About EyePharma
EyePharma is a South African speciality ophthalmology business. The company was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in the beautiful city of Cape Town.
Since inception we have been fortunate to grow our business exponentially, with the drive of a dynamic management team, experienced sales force and leading suppliers.
Our initial focus was on anterior segment specialists, mostly supplying lenses, viscosurgical devices, and diagnostic products. Eyepharma’s product portfolio has since expanded, and now caters for more of the needs of surgeons and their patients in the dynamic ophthalmic industry in Southern Africa. We provide a range of products from premium, niche products for lifestyle surgery, to cost-effective standard products for cataract surgery. We also launched our fast growing medical equipment division.
Our aim is to build a specialised ophthalmology business with a reputable product range, including implantable devices, instruments, equipment and medicines.

In 2022 an exciting transaction was concluded for PrionTex Micronclean (Pty) Ltd to acquire a majority interest in EyePharma (PTY) Ltd. PrionTex is a well-established South African medical device manufacturer celebrating more than 2 decades since its inception. It is a trusted brand focusing on supplies of surgical drapes, gowns, procedure packs and consumables into operating theatres and wards.
EyePharma operates as an independent entity, but we are now able to combine the strengths of both companies to provide a significantly broader, innovative portfolio, supported by a larger team of dedicated specialists.
